Training 

North of Tyne LPC, Gateshead & South Tyneside LPC and Sunderland LPC have organised training for contractors and their pharmacists in the North and South of Tyne area. 

 The training will ensure you have the relevant competences required to provide the NHS Seasonal Flu Vaccination Service.

We have arranged training with Novartis again.  

Should you wish to use this training you will need to read the criteria below and book on to the appropriate training.  We have negotiated the same prices as last year and the LPC's have subsided this training.


Eligibility Criteria

Online Update Only

  • If you completed Novartis Vaccines training last year and gave 50 or more vaccines (NHS or Private)  last season, you only need to complete online training. 
  • If you have completed the live Novartis Vaccines training for two consecutive years, you only need to complete online training.
  • Please Note that Novartis supplied training for AAH so if you attended AAH training you can treat this as Novartis training.
  • If you have attended training provided by any other provider, you will need to contact Novartis Vaccines to ask whether they will accept your previous training.    

Live Training & Online Module

  • If you have NOT been trained to carry out intramuscular injections or trained last year for the first time and administered LESS than 50  vaccines in the last ‘flu season’ you will have to undergo live  face to face training.
  • If you have done 2 years of online only training you will need to attend Live training this year.


In House Training or other Training Providers

Pharmacists undertaking their employer’s in-house training will also be able to provide the NHS Seasonal Flu Vaccination Service.  You do NOT need to undertake this training in addition to your employers in house training.


Novartis Training Costs

The cost per trainee for online only training is £27.50.   The cost for face to face training is £75 per trainee.  
You will be required to make payment at the time of booking your training, so please have a relevant payment method available. Credit card, debit card and Paypal payments are all acceptable.

Food will be provided at the evening face to face training sessions.

All the LPC organised Live Training is now Complete.  If you still require live training you will need to source your own training.  There are many other organisations that offer training including the NPA and some of the main wholesalers.

Please note that we are using EventBrite to manage our event online and Gateshead & South Tyneside LPC to manage payments so you may see both of these mentioned when registering.

PHP Meningococcal ACWY vaccination service
Please note that the Novartis Vaccines training also gives you the opportunity to train on  Meningitis Vaccines and also to participate in the Pilgrim meningococcal ACWY vaccination service in partnership with Novartis Vaccines and the Muslim Council of Britain. 
You will be given an option to book onto this when you receive your confirmation booking.  

PLEASE NOTE:-  If you book the Meningitis training you will not receive the flu PGDS until you have completed the meningitis training and it will not be possible to change your training to flu only training with out extra costs.
